Book My Bin

Book My Bin is a secondhand book day targeted at adults. The spirit of the event aims to attract “bookaholics” everywhere to mine their way through the bin for the books on their wish list. The inspiration has grown from treasure hunting. Although the word “bookaholic” usually conjures up negative and wild connections, I aim to use this design to create a new impression.
The design is built upon geometrical methods – a 26 sided standard Great Rhombcuboctahedron form in which each internal triangle is rotated 13.84 degrees to create the zone for each letter of the alphabet. This is developed from the observation of the top-down view of an open book. Based on this English coding system, I also explored 6 visual geometrical expressions to compose the title - Book My Bin. The compositions eventually produce the difficult readability which brings about the meaning of an elegant book addict using civilized ways to decode the puzzle and dig up the treasure.
